Internationally Educated DMD Program
The Internationally Educated DMD Program at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine is designed to enable qualified dentists educated outside the United States or Canada to earn a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree following a special 27 months didactic and clinical program.
Eligibility
The RSDM Internationally Educated DMD Program has been developed for individuals who have completed the equivalent of a DMD or DDS program in a non-US or Canadian accredited dental school. It is intended for individuals who would be interested in pursuing a dental career in the US or who would be interested in returning to their country with additional skills acquired in a US-accredited DMD program. This program is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, as well as international students.
Tuition and Fees
All in-state and out-of-state International Dentist Program students are required to pay their annual tuition and fees, in full, 30 days prior to each academic year. The academic year is defined as:
- Summer Program
- Fall/Spring- Third year
- Fall/Spring- Fourth year

All applications to the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine are filed through the Centralized Application for Advanced Placement for International Dentists, (CAAPID). Applications for RSDM Internationally Educated DMD Program may be filed from March 15 - September 15, 2024, for matriculation in the following year. Orientation and the Summer Program will begin on February 3, 2025.
RSDM is committed to complying with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Prospective applicants should complete an application for CAAPID.

THE DENTAL SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DELAYS IN CAAPID'S PROCESSING OF THE APPLICATION, WHETHER DUE TO THEIR ERROR OR STUDENT ERROR. All credentials submitted to the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine to support an application for admission become the property of the Dental School and will not be returned. If you have any questions at any time during the application process, contact the American Dental Education Association at (202) 667-1887.
Interviews
Selected candidates will be invited for an interview only at the discretion of the Admissions Committee. An interview will not be granted at the request of the student. No candidate will be accepted without an interview.
Notification
All candidates are informed electronically of the action taken on their applications. The time for notification of status is set at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.
If offered admission, applicants are required to submit a nonrefundable tuition deposit of $5,000.00.
Deans Certification Letter/Background Check
Please be advised that an offer of admission will not be final and enrollment not be permitted until the enrollment certification and criminal background check are completed with results deemed favorable by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
