Meet Tracy Louisse S. Chacon, the keeper of student records at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) this Thursday.

Tracy Louisse Chacon

Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do at RSDM.

I am the director of enrollment services here at RSDM. In my role, I manage the student records, oversee the registration process, and ensure that academic policies are followed. I’m responsible for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of student information, coordinating course scheduling, and facilitating smooth communication between departments. My work also involves assisting students with enrollment, handling transcripts, and providing support during critical periods like the White Coat Ceremony and Convocation.

How long have you been here, and why did you decide to come to RSDM?

I have been at RSDM for over six months now. I wasn’t actively looking for a new job but came across the RSDM job posting. The duties and responsibilities aligned with my background experience, and I thought, “why not?” During my interview process, I learned more about RSDM and the staff/administration and thought it was going to be a good fit for me, personally and professionally. Prior to joining RSDM, I worked at Saint Peter’s University in several capacities for about 10 years. My focus has always been to serve students in the best way I can, and it’s very fulfilling to still be able to do this at the doctoral and postgraduate levels here at RSDM.

What do you like the most about RSDM?

The people—students, staff, and administrators alike. It’s not always easy being the “newbie,” especially not knowing anyone at all when I first came to RSDM. It’s such a welcoming environment, and everyone truly goes above and beyond to make it happen for the students. The people I work with in Student/Academic Affairs, most especially, were very instrumental in my adjustment. While I’m still learning, they have shown me the ropes to be successful in my role!

What do you enjoy doing outside the school?

I enjoy spending time with my family, crafting, and planning events/parties. My son plays t-ball, and I am on the board for his little league and also serve as his coach. I am also big on experiences, so I seize the opportunity to try something new! Though I’m not that adventurous when it comes to food! I tend to stick to what I know.
