Dean's Message

At Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, we introduce students to an array of opportunities in the field of oral healthcare and equip them with the skills to succeed. Whether they join a private practice or work as researchers or academics, graduates have mastered the latest technological advances while acquiring a deep foundational knowledge of science, medicine, and patient care.

At our home base in Newark, NJ, and our extramural clinics in South Jersey, we treat a diverse population with a great range of needs, including many patients who are underserved. Students gain keen insight into the effects of healthcare inequities and how cultural norms impact oral health. Our service efforts span outreach work in New Jersey and overseas dental missions to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Bangladesh. In recent years, we have developed and expanded our digital dentistry curriculum and interprofessional educational programs.

Our students benefit from a close-knit, supportive, incredibly diverse environment where all are valued and a multitude of cultures are celebrated. Visitors are warmly welcomed at RSDM, which is located on the Rutgers School of Biomedical and Health Sciences campus in downtown Newark. We are proud of all we have to offer our dental school community and patients in New Jersey and around the world.
