Thursday Talks: George Soliman ’24
As the Class of 2024 enters the last stretch of their dental education, we talked with George Soliman. In addition to being an involved student, Soliman received the national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon’s “Dr. William S. Kramer Award of Excellence” last year and the “Certificate of Academic Excellence” in 2022.
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do at RSDM.
I am currently a D-4 student. I enjoyed the time I spent here at RSDM. Before training here, I completed my undergraduate degree at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, through the Honors College. I then came to RSDM through the accelerated seven-year BA/DMD program. I enjoy being part of this community and being involved in so many facets. My involvement includes being a foresight leader, a treasurer for the RSDM American Student Dental Association (ASDA), a tutor through the Office of Academic Affairs as well as participating in the summer research program. I enjoyed serving my clinic group as a representative for clinic D.
How long have you been here, and why did you decide to come to RSDM?
I have been at RSDM for over three years now. I decided to come here because I knew I wanted to become an oral health care provider and the seven-year program was an excellent opportunity for me to achieve my goal even sooner.
What do you like the most about RSDM?
I like that RSDM has something for everyone. There are so many opportunities to participate in various organizations and departments to discover what you like. There are also so many individuals willing to help and mentor students to achieve their goals.
What do you enjoy doing outside the school?
I enjoy being on the board of trustees of the New Jersey Dental Association to represent the students. I also enjoy my internship at Colgate Palmolive. I serve at my church. I also enjoy traveling and coding.
