CPR TRAINING
The minimum requirement is the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers, this includes lectures and hands-on practice. Rutgers School of Dental Medicine will be conducting their own CPR training in conjunction with University Hospital – Community Training Center (UH is located on our campus.)
HEALTH INSURANCE
Having health insurance is a requirement to participate in any kind of clinical activities at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. As CDE participants are not eligible for the school’s student health insurance plan, you will have to provide your own. You can choose the insurance level that will meet your needs, but the company needs to be one that has offices in the United States. You should get a few quotes and do some research on the companies. The insurance must remain valid for the duration of your program.
If you are a member of NAFSA – click here for a list of Health Insurance Companies on the NAFSA website.
Note – NAFSA doesn’t endorse these companies, but it’s a starting point.

Penn Station, in downtown Newark, is a hub for many train lines (see Rail System Map), PATH (goes into NYC) and Amtrak. It’s also a hub for NJ Transit bus lines.
These are only suggestions, you can choose other options. You should also do a Google search for apartments to rent in New Jersey or in Newark for Society Hill or University Heights.
