Improvement in materials and technologies make it possible for all dentists to expand on direct restorative services they already provide.  This lecture/participation course will demonstrate techniques to artistically restore anterior and posterior teeth with direct restoratives beyond what you are currently offering in your practice. 

After attending this course, the participant be able to:

  1. Place direct composite veneers using an anatomic facial matrix.
  2. Fabricate a direct composite bridge using glass fiber technology.
  3. Use single shade composite systems to simplify aesthetic matches in anterior composite restorations.
  4. Use bioactive dental materials to help remineralize teeth and help maintain sealed margins.
  5. Understand the benefits and use of heated composite during placement.

You will learn hands-on:

  1. Minimally invasive preparation using fissurotomy, “smart” burs, and bioactive restorative materials. 
  2. A “Smart” Class V composite restoration. 
  3. How to construct a direct composite glass fiber bridge. 
  4. Single shade Class IV composite restoration.

 

Dr. Robert A. Lowe, graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1982. Upon graduation, he entered private practice, as well as teaching as an Associate Professor in Operative Dentistry at Loyola until its closure in 1993. In 2000, he relocated to continue his practice of dentistry in Charlotte, NC.  In January of 2021, Dr. Lowe joined the faculty of MUSC James B Edwards College of Dental Medicine and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Reconstructive and Rehabilitative Services, while continuing to maintain part-time private practice as an associate at Charlotte Dental Arts in Charlotte, NC.   Dr. Lowe lectures internationally and publishes in well-known dental journals on esthetic and restorative dentistry.  He is a clinical evaluator of materials and products with many prominent dental manufacturers.  Dr. Lowe received fellowships in the AGD, ICD, ADI, ACD, ASDA, and received the 2004 Gordon Christensen Outstanding Lecturers Award .  In 2005, he was awarded Diplomat status on the American Board Of Aesthetic Dentistry.  He is a consultant for a number of the most prominent dental manufacturer’s world wide.
