Message from the Dean

Cecile A. Feldman, D.M.D., M.B.A., DeanWelcome to the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine website. On July 1, 2013, most University of Medicine and Dentistry schools, including New Jersey Dental School, became part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Along with that transition, our name changed to Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. Our leadership recommended the new name to reflect that dentistry is a health profession founded in biomedical science. We believe our new name more closely aligns with today's dental education and practice.

While our name may be different, who we are and what we do remains the same. We have a long tradition of being among the top schools in the country, offering the best dental education possible. We also proudly provide the very best in patient care, to all who seek it, and have been serving communities both near and far since we opened our doors more than 50 years ago. And our researchers are world renowned for their scientific discoveries, which are resulting in better treatments, and perhaps even cures, for many areas of human health.

We are very excited about joining with our state university and look forward to the new opportunities the merger presents. We are already discussing possible collaborations with several of the Rutgers schools that will benefit the students and faculty at both institutions, as well as the citizens of our great state. The future of the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine has never been brighter as we begin another chapter in our history.
