The Oral Health Pavilion
Our Oral Health Pavilion is a vibrant place, where something happens nearly every day. Whether a Board of Trustees meeting is taking place, or a group of students have gathered to study, this state-of-the-art facility is a hub of activity on the Newark Campus. With its impressive glass facade, the building has become a landmark in the University Heights area of the city, but even more important, it symbolizes our philosophy of keeping abreast of the latest trends in 21st century educational technology.
It is easy to understand why the building has become a favorite gathering place. The Delta Dental Educational Conference Center on the main level consists of a Multipurpose Room and three lecture halls that boast executive-style seating for 400 and the latest in audiovisual equipment. Members of our student organizations hold meetings and events there, and we host many celebrations there, including our annual White Coat ceremony and Match Day reception. When the Conference Center is not being used by the dental school, the community is welcome to use it for civic, cultural and educational events.
On the upper level, our faculty and students provide treatment in state-of-the-art patient clinics that are outfitted with the latest dental equipment and technology. When patients arrive for appointments, they are seated in bright waiting areas that feature restful, comfortable furniture. During our annual Cancer Screening and Health Fair, faculty members perform oral examinations in the clinics, and students from across the country converge there to participate in our Gateway to Dentistry and Summer Medical and Dental Education programs.
With the completion of the 78,000-square-foot Oral Health Pavilion in 2004 and the completion of renovations to our 194,000-square-foot Bergen Street Pavilion, Rutgers School of Dental Medicine will have facilities that rival those of any other dental school in the country.
