TiMIN MEMORIAM

 

 

 

Dr. John F. Ricciani earned a dental degree from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1970.  After graduation he entered the US Navy, becoming assistant dental officer for the base administration command at the Great Lakes Training Center. He retired as a lieutenant commander from the Naval Reserve in 1982.

He maintained a private practice in Trenton, NJ until joining the NJDS faculty in 1996.  Dr. Ricciani served as president of the Mercer Dental Society, was a member of board of trustees of Delta Dental of NJ, and was appointed to the NJ State Board of Dentistry, serving as president from 2003-2004 and again in 2010.  Dr. Ricciani was a fellow in the International College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Ricciani served as a member of the board of regents of the USA section of the International College of Dentists. Dr. Ricciani served as his class delegate on the DAA board of directors. 

Dr. Ricciani joined the NJDS faculty as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of General Dentistry and Community Health, later becoming a clinical associate professor in both the Community Health and Restorative Dentistry. He served as assistant director of the Community-Oriented Dental Education program from 1998-2003 and taught at the Northfield and Somerdale sites.

Dr. Ricciani was inducted into the Italian-American National Hall of Fame and was a two-time recipient of the
NJDA Presidential Service Award.
