TiMIN MEMORIAM

 

 

 

Dr. Richard A. Mahevich earned a dental degree from the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry in 1967.  After graduation he entered the AirForce and served for two years before opening a private practice in Haverstraw, NY. He later maintained a practice in Bernardsville, and most recently in North Brunswick, NJ.

He began his teaching career at Fairleigh Dickinson University Dental School in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. In 1997 he began teaching at NJDS as a clinical instructor, eventually becoming an assistant professor in Restorative Dentistry. During his tenure at NJDS, Dr. Mahevich was a group practice administrator. Dr. Mahevich served on the DAA board of directors as his class delegate.

He was an avid researcher and received the Ralph V. McKinney Jr. Annual Award for basic clinical research from Implant Dentistry. In addition he was recognized by the International College of Dentists and the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped with Outstanding Achievement awards.  He was a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.

Dr. Mahevich was active in his community, serving on the Board of Health in Tewksbury Township. He was also a member of the Somerset Hills Pony/United States Pony Club and served as its president from 1990-1994.
