Dr. Richard Vogel ('71), former chairman of the Department of Oral Pathology, Biology and Diagnostic Sciences (OPBDS), has a new career as executive associate dean at New York University, College of Dentistry.

"It was a bittersweet decision," says Dr. Vogel, who began his new job in January. "I have been part of New Jersey Dental School for over 30 years and was saddened to leave, but I simply could not pass up the challenge to help build a new undergraduate dental program at NYU."

Dr. Vogel was also the acting associate dean of academic affairs and taught in the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral dental programs at NJDS. While at the school, he was the principal investigator for more than 10 research grants and the primary author of more than 30 scientific articles and 20 abstracts.

Dr. Daniel Fine is serving as the acting chairman of OPBDS.

After 27 years at New Jersey Dental School, Dr. Wayne T. Harris has decided that his next implant will be the Jersey tomatoes in his garden.

In retirement, he plans to pursue some of his hobbies, which include sailing, woodworking, and of course, gardening. Dr. W. Ralph Opderbeck, associate professor of Endodontics, is retiring on June 2. He has been a faculty member since 1974; in 1978 he received the Excellence in Teaching award. Dr. Opderbeck was also a group practice administrator from 1989 to 1996. Another colleague from the Division of Endodontics, Dr. Martin Cameron, retired in February.

Dr. Cameron joined the NJDS faculty in 1990 and became an associate professor in 1994. He was also an adjunct assistant professor of Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Injury Sciences at New Jersey Medical School.
